Two officials under the erstwhile Kufuor administration have been invited for questioning, this time by the Police Criminal and Investigative Department (CID).

Papa Owusu Ankomah who served in different ministerial capacities including the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, as well as for Youth, Education and Sports and then Trade; and Richard Anane, ex- Roads and Transport Minister were on Wednesday questioned by the CID in the company of their lawyers.

Hon. Ankomah who is also MP for Sekondi told Joy News his interrogation lasted for only thirty minutes.

He said he was interrogated on “certain matters” that occurred during his tenure as Attorney General, but was not ready to go public on those matters.

Meanwhile, Deputy Information Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has dismissed assertions that the BNI has been discarded following criticisms by a section of the public over its modus operandi.

He said the security institutions are experienced enough to know which case will be investigated by which security outfit, adding “All the security agencies have all their plates full with one investigation or another.”

He thought the media over-hyped investigations by the BNI over other investigations by the other institutions.

Denying accusations of witch-hunting of ex-officials, Mr. Ablakwa said the investigations are part of measures to ensure accountability by all public officials.

He observed that the action will serve as a deterrent to serving officials.
