One of Ghana’s most powerful songstresses, Irene Logan, winner of the first edition of the
Stars of the Future reality show organised by Charter House says she is working round the clock to hit the Ghanaian music scene with her solo album and in a grand style.
She revealed this during an interview with DJ Black on the Joy FM’s Open House Party entertainment show on Saturday.
Irene now has David Bossman (BB of ‘Things We Do for Love’ fame) as her new manager and she is signed under the Lynx Entertainment Record label. She was initially managed by Fred of Charter House under the Irene and Jane duo project which lasted close to three years.
She is widely known for singing ballads, which she said she is trying to change with the introduction of solo songs like ‘Music’ and ‘Run Away’ and therefore people should expect a lot of rhythms in her new album.
“I want to try different types of rhythms, people know me for ballads. They even call me, 'Irene the ballad girl'. So I want to show a different side of me,” she said.
She added that her new album “Rebirth” features artistes like Faze from Nigeria, Asem and Richie and one song people should watch out for in the album is
‘Me nfa nkye wo’.
Irene said she is still cooking the album and Ghanaians should expect a mega launch when it’s ready.
Her manager, David Bossman said “We are looking at going across the borders of Ghana, Nigeria and South Africa which she(Irene) did under the Irene and Jane duo where they performed at the Channel O Music Video Awards.”
This feat, he said has never been achieved by any other Ghanaian musician and they are looking at going beyond that.
Irene who quickly shot into stardom soon after the Stars of the Future reality show said it is very difficult managing stardom and normal life.
“People are the ones that make us so we have to appreciate them. It is difficult to balance because everything you do is put under a magnifying glass. We are supposed to be supernatural but we are only human,” she said.
One unique thing about Irene is her stagecraft, and she is so enchanting live up the stage. She attributes her success to a lot of prayers, practice and hard work. She said she sometimes gets nervous when she gets on stage but because she has love for what she does, she quickly gets over it.
Irene is single and still searching.
