The people of Brong-Ahafo Region will from now heal a sigh of relief following a decision from the authorities to complete the abandoned regional library complex at Nkwabeng in Sunyani.

Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) at part of its contribution towards the B/A @50 celebrations has decided to finance the rest of the project, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

The Regional Director of the Ghana Library Board, Mr. Frederick Nobel Baada disclosed to Space FM’s Piero Spiridigliozzi that though the  project contractor TENNEB MAS abandoned it due to financial constraints, the principal Consultant AESL has assured that it is holding talks with the contractor to resume work.

The project started in February, 2004 and was initially expected to be completed in 2006.
 
 
According to Mr. Baada the cost of the whole project, which is a Government of Ghana Project, is GHC 100, 000. 
 
He said the Public Investment Project (PIP) was to finance half of the costs but only GHC 10,000 was paid to the contractor.
 
Mr Baada believes that the project if completed successfully will boost the academic level of the citizenry.
 

Meanwhile a visit to the project site shows that most of the work has been completed but it was clear that the work has been abandoned.
