NPP delegates were bribed - Wereko Brobbey
A defeated aspirant to the National Chair of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Charles Wereko Brobbey has attributed his embarrassing defeat to inducements of some delegates by his fellow aspirants.
Dr. Charles Wereko Brobbey polled 29 votes as against 2,030 votes polled by the Winner Jake Obetsebi Lamptey in the just ended NPP national delegates’ conference held in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital.
The former CEO of the Volta River Authority in an interview with Citi FM said he is aware that some of his fellow colleagues induced some delegates prior to the election to vote in their favour.
He added that although he would not mention names of specific people and amounts, he is confidently aware that most delegates were extremely induced.
“I don’t suspect, I know inducements were paid and I know the specific amounts although I would not mention names…I want someone to say to me that what I am saying is not true and that inducements were not paid” he challenged.
Meanwhile Dr Wereko Brobbey has sharply shifted his attention from his defeat in the National Chairmanship race to contest for flagbearership of the NPP.
In an interview with Citi News Dr. Wereko Brobbey advised members of the NPP to move away from the perception that only two people have been ordained to contest for the flagbearership of the NPP because that forms part of the problem that the party faces.
“There is the perception that two people are ordained to become the party flagbearership, I think we need to move away from that because that’s part of the problem that the party is facing” he added.
